Hear from Sally, Apprentice Carpenter about working as a woman in trade

Thinking of becoming an apprentice?

Apprenticeships combine formal study with paid, hands-on training. Typically lasting 2 to 4 years, they provide you with a nationally-recognised qualification that can lead to rewarding job opportunities and career growth.

As an apprentice, you will:

  • Earn money while you learn new skills
  • Get real-world, hands-on experience
  • Learn from industry experts
  • Accelerate your career
  • Get a nationally-recognised qualification without any student debt

As an apprentice in a male-dominated field, you can get one-on-one support from an 91¹ÙÍømentor. Our mentors work with you as a sounding board and ally; offering advice, feedback and encouragement throughout your apprenticeship.

We can help you navigate which government financial assistance you may be eligible to receive as you complete your apprenticeship.

Trying to decide which trade is right for you?
