Hillbrook Anglican School currently have a Gardens and Grounds Officer apprentice to join our team!
You will be working alongside our highly skilled and qualified tradespeople learning and mastering your trade.Ìý
The role will assist the Grounds and Maintenance Team with maintaining the School's gardens and grounds, ensuring they are safe and provide a welcoming environment to Hillbrook and the wider community.
Responsibilities for this position include: Ìý
- Maintenance of grounds and gardens including weeding, mulching, fertilising, pest control, planting out and replacing as required
- Maintenance and repairs to irrigation systems
- General watering and pruning of shrubs and trees at the appropriate time
- Landscaping and planting of suitable replacement plans to renovate gardens as required to improve the school’s presentation
- Maintenance of hard and soft landscaping to preserve the grounds to be in a healthy, attractive and safe condition including mowing and edging, water pressure cleaning and scheduled maintenance
- Blowing and cleaning landscaped areas and related items (drains, walkways, courtyards, etc)
- Operating and maintaining equipment and machinery safely and efficiently
- Supporting waste management activities including composting and green waste removal
- Assisting the Grounds and Maintenance team with the set-up of internal and external School events, including manual lifting of School equipment as directed
- Working collaboratively with other team members to meet grounds maintenance schedules
- Other ad hoc tasks as required to support the grounds team, and within skills and capabilities
To be successful you will need to have the following:Ìý
- Mandatory possession of or eligibility for a 'Working with Children' Card
- Appropriate open class driver's licence
- Ability to undertake manual/physical work
- Genuine interest in landscaping
- Punctual, reliable and energetic
