A great opportunity is available at City Parklands to work and gain experience as an Apprentice Greenkeeper while you study to complete a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management. This 3-year temporary, full-time position will be based at Victoria Park/Barrambin, one of Brisbane's most beautiful parklands, where you will undertake in-house practical training with City Parklands.

At City Parklands, a wholly owned subsidiary of Brisbane City Council, we are passionate about parks, public places and people and we deliver integrated place management for Roma Street Parkland, South Bank Parklands, Victoria Park/Barrambin, Anzac Square, Post Office Square and Newstead House on behalf of Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government. As the trusted custodians of these premier parklands and precincts, we acknowledge the responsibility to manage, enhance and enliven these beautiful places effectively and efficiently.

Our Apprentice GreenkeeperÌýwill:

  • Work a 9-day fortnight, primarily outdoors, alongside our skilled greenkeepers and horticulturists.
  • Carry out turf maintenance and general horticultural tasks, including application of chemicals and monitoring of irrigation.
  • Operate and maintain greenkeeping equipment.
  • Obtain industry licences for specialised machinery and certificates as part of the industry requirements.
  • Complete approximately 3 theory and practical block units at TAFE each year throughout their apprenticeship.

Our ideal candidate:

  • Will show passion and commitment with a demonstrated interest in a career inÌýgreenkeeping
  • Be physically fit and keen to work in an outdoor role
  • Hold a current drivers licence (manual desirable)
  • Will have successfully completed year 10 Math and English
